Our client is one of the countries leading legal firm, they are seeking a Trade Mark Secretary to join their team in Cape town. The individual need not have previous experience in trade mark law and litigation secretaries who are keen on pursuing a career in this specialized field of law will be considered. Duties and Responsibilities - Receiving and dealing with client instructions; - Initiating and reporting on trade mark searches; - Preparing trade mark filing instructions; - Attending to prosecution queries and supplying information to clients; - Receiving, perusing and reporting on official actions; - Responding to the Registrar, including written submissions; - Complying with official actions and prosecuting applications to acceptance; - Applying for extensions of the prosecution period; - Billing / preparing invoices; - Sporadically providing documentation (as and when required); - Liaising with clients telephonically; - Addressing requests for consent to third parties; - Occasionally handing amendment of specification of goods, etc.; - Dictaphone typing of all trade mark matters; - Attending to diary; - Perusal of incoming post / e-mails; drawing files and responding to general correspondence/queries.
