Senior Technician (SnrTechRail02)
About the role
BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technician to be based in our Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham or London office.
We are looking to appoint a Senior Technician on a permanent basis, who we will expect to be conversant with AutoCAD, Bentley and has extensive experience in the design of Bridge/footbridge Structures, Earthworks and ancillary railway infrastructure. The role provides the opportunity to lead a draughting team in rail as it goes through a period of rapid expansion due to recent contract awards. A team player with an aptitude to effectively communicate responsibility to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced staff is sought. Great opportunities for career advancement during this period of growth for the right person.
About the team
The Rail team is growing due to a healthy forward workbank. The team provides a comprehensive design and advisory service focused on meeting the engineering challenges involved in providing smart and value-for-money solutions to renewal and enhancement projects. Working across the heavy rail, metro and light rail industries and our clients range from internal (CAF Rail), local and national developers and contractors to public sector bodies. Opportunities exist to work on high profile international projects either from the UK or in the project country. We aim to create a working environment that provides challenge, enjoyment and a real sense of satisfaction with a view to encouraging personal and professional development in all our staff.
Candidates must be capable of leading a team in use of AutoCAD, 3D Civils, be conversant with BIM requirements and processes and understand Network rail CAD standards.
An understanding and experience of using Bentley Microstation and associated design tools in addition to AutoDesk tools would be advantageous. Experience of wider railway design draughting would also be advantageous covering bridges, footbridges and ancillary railway infrastructure as would experience of using ProjectWise and Eb.
Whilst academic qualifications appropriate to the roles are important, attributes such as problem solving, communication, personal organisation and team working will help candidates stand out. Above all we seek demonstrable enthusiasm, ambition and a willingness to learn.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant railway draughting experience with evidence provided at interview.
