Application Specialist - VR/20669

The Company & Role:

Our client, a global logistic, freight forwarding & supply chain specialist based in Chelmsford, are looking to take on an Application Specialist to join their IT department.

Main Duties:

  • Mapping data with external partners & our in-house systems
  • Design, development & implementation EDI interfaces including testing & documentation
  • Provide development lead for EDI development projects supporting the business throughout
  • Assistance during test phases of development supporting internal colleagues
  • Follow company procedures to help create & maintain relevant documentation
  • Integrate existing software products & work on ensuring incompatible platforms come together
  • Create technical specifications & test plans
  • Write operational & process flow documentation
  • Maintain systems by monitoring & correcting software defects
  • Work closely with employees & software vendors to ensure continuous development
  • Consult colleagues concerning the maintenance & performance of software systems & with a view to writing or modifying current operating practices
  • Investigate new technologies
  • Continually update technical knowledge & skills by attending in-house &/or external courses, reading manuals & accessing new applications
  • Provide day-to-day technical & functional assistance to end users
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Any other duties as required by management for the smooth & efficient operation of the department

Key Skills Required:

  • Excellent understanding of EDI (EDIFACT/X12/XML, etc.)
  • Understanding of API
  • Good Understanding of Microsoft SQL & MySQL
  • Experience using/deploying Altova Mapforce & Mapforce Server an advantage
  • In Return: You will receive a salary depending on experience.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30.
