Customs Clearance Operator - VR/19865

Our client, the UK's leading independent logistics provider, is looking for a Customs Clearance Operator to join their team in Essex.


  • Processing a range of customs entries (home use, CFSP, bond, bond removals) for shipments
  • Dealing with general enquiries from importers concerning all areas relating to customs procedures, i.e. tariff classifications, duty rates, licence and any other documentation requirements
  • Liaising with colleagues internally on a daily basis regarding clearance & delivery of shipments
  • Calculating the Duty/Vat costs for each consignment
  • Processing duty reclaims
  • Knowledge of chief (CNS), Destin8, Multifreight, Multished
  • Building relationships with customers, shipping companies
  • Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and custom procedures

Skills and Experience:

  • Full knowledge of customs procedures and principles
  • Good understanding of Excel spreadsheets
  • IT Literate
  • Be conscientious and have attention to detail
  • Communicate politely and efficiently with clients and internal staff
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Experienced team player
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and driven to achieve targets and objectives
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to identify and report problems

In Return:

The successful Customs Clearance Operator will receive a salary depending on experience.
